Florian (Didi, named in reference to his last name), a trained architect and former classmate of Jere was traveling in Thailand with his fellow students Olli. The two had studied the part of the country, the lift we for our next trip to Thailand: The South, the islands, the beautiful beaches. But because it has just happened and they still wanted to get to know a different part of Thailand, they decided, to visit us and their last days in Thailand before going back to Bangkok, to be with us. And suddenly they were in our hotel lobby. Of course not unexpected, But somehow one does not so very true, until they actually see. So it is probably our parents at the moment. Read more…
Small World Travel
Long time we thought about, where we want to draw attention in this interesting vintage. As long, that we did not before two more days, where there it our way. Several requirements had to be met. We really wanted the sea, in a beautiful hotel, but not touristy, and no sex tourism area. The south of Thailand with its famous islands, which are by Hollywood movies like "The Beach" and "James Bond" has become favorite destinations of tourists, attracted us because of the beautiful beaches and easy communication in the field. What we, however, the spot next to the elevated prices of the target held, was from Bangkok, again very long way to go there. We were looking around to Bangkok on the Gulf of Thailand for a place, but here are full of sex tourism, so that our guide advised against. A little south but we found a small island: Ko Sichang. And we are cruising cruising cruising
Not satisfied in our experience urge, after rafting and cooking class, we used the last day in Chiang Mai, to finally for once to look at the city. The previous evening we had a little insight, when we visited the famous night market. Over at an incredible distance road, into several side streets, in multi-story buildings and a large square covered countless stalls. There is everything, what one could imagine. From the "pothead Pants" (wide trousers with very low crotch for binding), on T-Shirts (sometimes with Nazi symbols), Hair clips from chewing gum paper, "Real" watch, Leather goods to mass Bishins Massage (in rank and file, 40 Tourists enjoy a massage on the square feet) Tang and treatments (it keeps legs and feet in the pool and eat the old skin cells from a). And of course there was food everywhere in Thailand ubiquitous. For one, I was tempted, many things to buy, on the other side of me from the overwhelming diversity and the sometimes poor quality of it visible. In the end it was just a rock and a hand luggage suitcase. Read more…
Smell, Sweating, Taste
Although we have officially a year applied for leave of absence: We were really early on often enough. This is also again on this day. However, what we expected: A day all about food, And who already knows a little, who knows, we jump out of bed early for this always.
Freshly recovered from the previous day and thanks to our rafting guide, the most of the work itself has made, without muscle Karter, we were fresh as chives clock in the morning at nine in the wicker chairs in front of our hotel in our street with the many cute little shops. The day was warm again, but not too hot, excellent weather, that prevails in Thailand, according to travel guide probably only around this season. Previously, we had a delicious breakfast for a € I ate scrambled eggs and croissants, what we should regret later. Read more…
At the falls
For a small fee we were allowed until the afternoon in our hotel stay in Ubon. We went for lunch one last time to the food stalls on the road, of which about two during the day offering soup already. In the afternoon we again shouldered our backpacks and waited for the next mini-bus on the main road. The transvestite at the fruit stall sold me yet entrapment bag of watermelon, ready-cut, and off we went towards the bus station. The station had shown us our two leaders the day before so we knew, when we had to push the ball on the Busdecke.
In an information told us the number of switch, where we should wait. There were like at the airport a few rows of seats for waiting and a treadmill for the case. The treadmill was about five feet long and almost to pack his bags on it, it ran out along and through the door, where it came directly out. What is the fifth thing that is for the meter does, I do not know. We climbed, typical German, first in the bus, was called to this. First, we were surprised by the leg of the seats. During the night, but we should remember, that bus travel is still uncomfortable with the travel forms. We made ourselves comfortable and then first tried out the seat massage: A type of air cushion, located in the pelvic area and over again slowly inflates. On the flat screens on the front wall of the bus ran Thai music videos, which can be pretty cheesy and weird. Unfortunately, there was no outlet, so I could read only as long, as the battery was in my computer. Then, it was also soon be dark and Jere began relatively early, beside me to sleep. The sun on the horizon seemed to be enormous, and after a while I noticed, what was so different from the picture: The sky changed color almost reddish or orange. Thus, the sun is the only shade of red on blue-gray sky. I had never seen before, but somehow I connected with the image already Asia. Read more…
Tempel, Tempel & Temple
As our colds have our entire schedule confused, would be our departure from the city of lotuses (Ubon = lotus; = Ratchathani City) fell exactly on my birthday. We decided, one more day to stay longer, not to celebrate on the bus must. Since it was Saturday, we had already previously adopted by some of our course members, because over the weekend in the English camp went for the children. Oz also had to go to his home to the Cambodian border, because there unrest over the disputed temple (World Heritage, around which Thailand and Cambodia fighting; he should be eingestüzt by the exchange of fire now.) were broken. We ate together at the night market one last time and the departure was again difficult. Uma and her friend Samantha (as the Taiwanesinnen to give some Thais English names, foreigners so that they can remember better) promised us, that they would prepare in honor of my birthday and to thank you for our course a city tour. The unknown surrounded us, but we now had helpers, introduced to us a little in the Thailkultur. In the afternoon of our arrival day we met again at the university for our first workshop course. We had to 16 Clock appointment, but the un-equal with the time flexibility were in Thailand with. After an hour of doubt, whether we were in the right place at the right time, came the first two girls approached us and introduced themselves. They informed us about it, that the others would soon come, so that we have not started with the workshop, but we first met. Man, I was excited in the last few days, before going to Thailand. In our whole year will probably be the most unusual time. The better, that we, at least for the first week had a point! On the side we had HelpX addition to our family in Australia once looked out for fun tatsächlicht Thailand and found a non-profit organization, aid workers in Thailand seeking. We still registered in New Zealand, chatted with Skype in Australia with one another and accounted for, that we take the first week in Thailand to Ubon Ratchathani, to the students there to help with their media work.
Pip drove us to the airport and we said goodbye with hugs each other very solid! We are confident, them by the end of this year to see again in Germany and hope, that makes them even further good experiences with their helpers. Read more…
